Sydney Kings big man and runner up in NBL21 Most Improved Player voting Jordan Hunter is set to miss the regular season.

Hunter underwent surgery on Thursday for a left navicular fracture which will see him sidelined for around four months.

The foot fracture was sustained this week as Hunter was nearing his return following a recent finger fracture.

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass said the injury was a bitter blow for one of the league’s most talented young bigs.

“Jordi is a much loved character off court and a vital member of our team on court so we are all devastated for him,” Pongrass said.

“The club will be right behind Jordi through every step in his rehabilitation and we know he will comeback from this setback stronger than ever.”

Hunter, a Sydney local, joined the Kings after graduating from Saint Mary's playing 27 games in his rookie season in 2020, helping the Kings to a grand final berth.

Last season he led the Kings in total rebounds with 227 at 6.3 per game (36 games including 33 starts).
