How NBL Oz Gaming will rally for The Switch

Wednesday, March 20, 2024

With The Switch starting this week, coach Mooty is optimistic on what NBL Oz Gaming can do this mode.

After being knocked out of the 3v3 Slam Open by CLTX Gaming, NBL Oz Gaming are set to bounce back in the next 3v3 tournament, The Switch.

The Slam was a disrupted process for the team, with point guard Ceez being unable to play due to a hand injury. In his absence, HarryVZN filled his role and showed promise as a 3v3 guard.

Reigning Coach of the Year Mootyy sat down with NBL Media to discuss how the team performed in The Slam.

“What stood out the most from The Slam was how much potential this team has,” he explained.

“We truly had the toughest group and made every series gritty against elite teams. Three of the final four teams were in our group, we defeated the Pistons and arguably could’ve beat the Magic and GenG.

Mootyy said that despite the tough schedule, he was proud of how his Down Underdogs rallied behind Ceez and the team for this stretch.

“There were a ton of positives from the tournament despite our record. Those series helped us pinpoint the proper adjustments we needed to make as a team,” Mootyy said.

“It was unfortunate timing for Ceez’s injury but I was proud of how the team collectively rallied. I’m excited for everyone to see our growth as a team this week against four more of the league’s best.

The Season 7 roster was completely altered outside of retaining Harry, leaving Mootyy to experiment with his new players during the pre-season and The Slam.

Now that the team has some in-game experience, Mootyy is optimistic about his team’s performance coming into the first game against the Nets.

“What we can expect in The Switch is gritty ball from NBL again. We have yet again one of the toughest groups but are battle-tested now,” he said.

“The belief in the room is that we are one of the best teams in 3v3. We just need to execute and clean up the little things. Ceez has been able to practice some this week so everyone is excited for his return.

Ceez is projected to return during The Switch, starting on Wednesday night at 6:00pm ET and Thursday morning at 10:00am AEDT streaming live via the NBA 2K League’s Twitch channel
