Bargain buys: SuperCoach NBL Classic

South East Melbourne big man and Sydney Kings NBL26 champion Hunter Goodrick ($69,000) is undeniably the best SuperCoach NBL Cheapie, already snapped up about 40% of SuperCoaches.

Goodrick, 26, is the backup power forward on the Phoenix behind import Yannis Morin ($277,000) on our depth chart but is a dual-position FWD/CTR at a rock-bottom price.

Two-position Cheapies are gold dust, especially one who, in just 7.8 minutes per game for the Sydney Kings last season, averaged 5.79 SC points. Goodrick is an unlikely SuperCoach NBL starter, but solid, reliable production at a great price for a player whose minutes are going to go up.

Illawarra Hawks second-year man Johny Narkle ($69,000) is most definitely one to put on your Watch List during the NBL27 Blitz. The NBL1 star is also a dual-position GRD/FWD, and our depth chart has him in the second-string behind Australian Tyler Harvey ($271,700) at shooting guard.

Whether that means minutes given to William Hickey ($331,600) could come off the bench, a la NBL25 Championship glory, and moving new import point guard Milton Doyle ($274,700) off the ball is anyone's guess. He's not on many radars, owned by just 2.6% of SuperCoaches, but with an average of 5.56 SC points in 7.7 minutes per game, maybe he should be.

Cairns veteran Shaun Bruce ($76,500) was the third-string point guard behind import Jaylon Brown ($277,000) and NBL Next Star Luke Paul ($115,000), who is out six to eight weeks with an ankle. Bruce, 35, becomes a viable option on the back of 7.37 SC points in 8.6 minutes last season for the Kings. That's a decent amount of production for a man barely on the floor, and for the opening month of NBL27, he's next man up for Adam Forde.

Another veteran back-up big with dual position benefits is Adelaide's Matt Kenyon ($69,000).

He's second-string small forward, but the man above him is Bul Kuol ($156,100), who is recovering from an ACL. Kenyon played all 40 games last year and averaged 5.42 SC points in 10.4 minutes a night. A dual-position FWD/GRD at the floor price who has never missed a game, owned by just 4.5% of coaches. We'll need to wait and see what new head coach Trevor Gleeson does with his starting line – could it be: Bryce Cotton ($473,900), Flynn Cameron ($241,700), Zylan Cheatham ($339,500), Nick Rakocevic ($188,400) and Isaac Humphries ($265,300)?

Career: 33 games, 1 season, debuted NBL26. Depth chart: 2nd of 3 at PF behind Morin (IP) — our chart now agrees with the league. The case: 11.1 rebounds per 36 at the floor price, and 5.79 SC points in 7.8 minutes. Second at PF behind Morin now, not first, but SEM run no deeper.

2. Johny Narkle (ILL) — Value 19.7, Price $69,000, Proj. min 18, Own% 2.63, SC avg 5.56 in 7.7 min/g across 18 games. SC/36 27.2, with 9.6 pts, 8.3 reb, 1.6 stl per 36. Career: 18 games, 1 season, debuted NBL26. Depth chart: 2nd of only 2 at SG (Harvey / Narkle). The case: 5.56 SC points in 7.7 minutes and owned by 2.7 per cent. Second at SG behind Tyler Harvey, two men deep. The differential of the band.

3. Matt Kenyon (ADL) — Value 16.9, Price $69,000, Proj. min 22, Own% 4.42, SC avg 5.42 in 10.4 min/g across 40 games. SC/36 19.1, with 6.9 pts, 5.5 reb, 1.5 stl per 36. Career: 165 games, 7 seasons, debuted NBL17. Depth chart: 2nd at SF, and Bul Kuol is out for the season with an ACL. The case: second at SF behind a man out for the season with an ACL, so second is really first. Played all 40 games for 5.42 SC in 10.4 minutes.

4. Cameron Huefner (PER) — Value 16.2, Price $58,500, Proj. min 13, Own% 0.77, SC avg 1.44 in 4.1 min/g across 11 games. SC/36 26.2 (thin sample), with 14.3 pts, 7.9 reb per 36. Career: 11 games, 1 season, debuted NBL26. Depth chart: 2nd of only 2 at SF (Windler IP / Huefner). The case: floor price at $58,500 and PER carry no third SF. Rate him on the depth chart, not on a per-36 built from 45 minutes of court time.

5. Shaun Bruce (CNS) — Value 15.9, Price $76,500, Proj. min 14, Own% 7.74, SC avg 7.37 in 8.6 min/g across 30 games. SC/36 31.3, with 9.8 pts, 5.6 reb, 6.3 ast per 36. Career: 376 games, 14 seasons, debuted NBL13. Depth chart: 3rd at PG, but Luke Paul is out 6-8 weeks with an ankle. The case: 7.37 SC points in 8.6 minutes at 35, and Luke Paul is out six to eight weeks with an ankle. The backup PG job is his for the opening month.

6. Tom Wilson (MEL) — Value 15.6, Price $69,000, Proj. min 12, Own% 1.50, SC avg 5.16 in 5.8 min/g across 27 games. SC/36 32.2, with 13.3 pts, 7.6 reb, 3.5 ast per 36. Career: 39 games, 2 seasons, debuted NBL19. Depth chart: 2nd at SG behind Chris Goulding. The case: the best per-36 in the band at 32.2, on a real 156-minute sample, and Chris Goulding at 37 gets managed. 5.16 SC in 5.8 minutes.

7. Sunday Dech (CNS) — Value 13.1, Price $69,000, Proj. min 14, Own% 36.85, SC avg 6.58 in 9.8 min/g across 30 games. SC/36 23.3, with 11.7 pts, 3.8 reb, 1.1 stl per 36. Career: 210 games, 9 seasons, debuted NBL14. Depth chart: 2nd at SF (Lewis IP / Dech / W.Brown) — carrying a hamstring. The case: 6.58 SC points in 9.8 minutes, but 37 per cent already own him. Consensus rather than edge, and the hamstring is unresolved.

8. Daniel Foster (SEM) — Value 11.8, Price $75,600, Proj. min 11, Own% 3.29, SC avg 7.29 in 9.3 min/g across 32 games. SC/36 29.1, with 10.7 pts, 7.0 reb, 3.2 ast per 36. Career: 32 games, 1 season, debuted NBL26. Depth chart: 3rd at PF behind Morin (IP) and Goodrick — out of the Blitz. The case: played 31 of a possible 32 last season for 7.29 SC in 9.3 minutes. Third at PF since Morin moved up, and he is out of the Blitz.

The case: 18.9 points per 36, the purest scorer in the band, but four men deep at SF for ILL and $23,000 dearer than the floor-price picks.

Career: 279 games, 10 seasons, debuted NBL17. Depth chart: 3rd at SG, but Bryce Hamilton is out with an ACL, so effectively 2nd behind Mathias. The case: third-best average in the band at 9.43, and an ACL to Bryce Hamilton has cleared the man in front. Only 14 games, so treat it as thin.

11. Isaac White (ADL) — Value 10.2, Price $98,100, Proj. min 17, Own% 2.67, SC avg 9.45 in 15.0 min/g across 40 games. SC/36 21.2, with 11.2 pts, 3.9 reb, 3.8 ast per 36. Career: 179 games, 6 seasons, debuted NBL21. Depth chart: 2nd at PG behind Bryce Cotton. The case: 598 measured minutes across 40 games, backing up Bryce Cotton, who cannot play all of them. The safest floor here and you pay for it.

12. Taine Murray (BRI) — Value 8.4, Price $99,700, Proj. min 20, Own% 1.35, SC avg 9.61 in 23.7 min/g across 28 games. SC/36 15.1, with 9.0 pts, 3.0 reb, 1.8 ast per 36. Career: 30 games, 2 seasons, debuted NBL21. Depth chart: 2nd at SG (Mackinnon / Murray / Bruton DP). The case: highest average and by far the most minutes in the band, and still the poorest value in it: 15.1 per 36 is the lowest rate on this list.

13. Reuben Te Rangi (NZL) — Value 7.5, Price $97,100, Proj. min 14, Own% 16.00, SC avg 9.36 in 18.5 min/g across 33 games. SC/36 18.8, with 12.7 pts, 4.6 reb, 1.2 stl per 36. Career: 391 games, 14 seasons, debuted NBL13. Depth chart: 3rd at SF (James IP / Davison / Te Rangi / Chunga DP). The case: the chart says third string at SF, last season says 18.5 minutes a night across 33 games. Trust the chart or the minutes, not both.

Four players with no NBL26 sample at all, all at $69,000, ranked on the path, not on a number.

P1. Anzac Rissetto (NZL) — Price $69,000, Own% 1.17. Career: 23 games, 2 seasons, NBL22 and NBL23. NBL26: no sample — played in Germany with Phoenix Hagen. Depth chart: 2nd of only 2 at C (Bediako IP / Rissetto). The case: centre is the scarce position in this game, only 17 players carry it as a primary, and you need two. New Zealand carry exactly two.

P2. Ben Griscti (ADL) — Price $69,000, Own% 0.73. Career: 7 games, 1 season, NBL25. NBL26: no sample. Depth chart: 2nd of only 2 at C (Humphries / Griscti). The case: the same argument as Rissetto with less evidence behind it. Adelaide carry no third centre, so Isaac Humphries' rest minutes are his.

P3. Preston Le Gassick (NZL) — Price $69,000, Own% 4.13. Career: none — NBL debutant. NBL26: no sample — arrived from Palm Beach Atlantic University, NCAA Division II. Depth chart: 2nd at PG (Jackson-Cartwright IP / Le Gassick / Evans Jr DP). The case: backup point guard to an import, at 4.13 per cent ownership. A pure projection, and his row says so.

P4. Ben Gold (TAS) — Price $69,000, Own% 6.06. Career: none — NBL debutant. NBL26: no sample — arrived from Marquette, NCAA. Depth chart: 2nd at C (Magnay / Gold / Richardson DP), and Will Magnay's availability is unconfirmed. The case: 6.06 per cent already own him, which is high for a debutant, and the man above him is the least certain starter in the league.
