Tasmania set for high performance centre

Tuesday, April 9, 2024
The construction of the Tasmania JackJumpers' high performance centre is set to kick off within the next 90 days.
Tasmania JackJumpers owner Larry Kestelman has confirmed construction of the JackJumpers’ planned high performance centre will kick off in the next 90 days, following a promise from the state government.
The centre was initially slated to be built at Wilkinson’s Point, however planning delays have meant construction is still yet to begin five years since the announcement.
Head coach Scott Roth has been vocal in a desire to improve the team's facilities over his time at the helm, but Kestelman says it will be constructed wherever the quickest result can be achieved.
“We have commitment from the government to kick off construction within 90 days for the high performance centre,” Kestelman told The Mercury.
“That’s our number one priority, because we’re super desperate.
“Its best location is what we are assessing – where it will happen fast. Wherever it can happen quicker, I’m all for it. I truly don’t mind and I think the coaching staff are at the same point.”
