NZNBL Wrap (April 9, 2024)

Tuesday, April 9, 2024
The New Zealand National Basketball League is stacked with more NBL talent than ever before.
Adelaide development player Keanu Rasmussen pulled together an electric scoring performance in the NZNBL this past week, dropping 35 points for Hawkes Bay in a 27-point win over Southland.
Rasmussen hist 12 of his 19 shot attempts over the course of the game – including 5-10 from three – in just under 35 minutes in the win, where he was supported by Cairns import Josh Roberts’ 19 points and 15 rebounds, and former Breaker and Taipan Jordan Ngatai.
Tyrell Harrison continued his strong start to his NZNBL campaign with Manawatu, and finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and an incredible five blocks, also against Southland.
The 13-point win over the Sharks was Manuwatu’s first game of the past week, and Harrison added 13 points and 12 boards in a nine-point defeat to Ben Henshall and Tai Webster’s Otago Nuggets just two days later.
Henshall starred for the Nuggets in the 112-103 victory over Harrison’s Jets with 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Webster added 20 points of his own in the win.
Illawarra’s Dan Grida continued his resurgence with Nelson after he missed the back end of NBL24 with a knee injury, and once again surpassed a 20-point double-double for the Giants, this time in a nine-point defeat to the Wellington Saints.
Perth’s Hyrum Harris played the role of chief destroyer in the Saints’ win with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Izayah Le’Afa added 18 points and four steals in the victory.
Corey Webster rounded out an exceptional week of NZNBL fixtures for Perth’s NBL24 contingent with 25 points and eight assists against Taranaki, and 22 points against Whai, both of which resulted in wins.
The NZNBL action will continue on Thursday night when Tyrell Harrison’s Jets take on Keanu Rasmussen and Josh Roberts’ Hawks.
