Is Hogg leaving Sydney?

Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Michael Randall and Matt Logue have reported "Hogg won't return to the Sydney Kings next season".

He was one of star-signings across the NBL24 off-season, but now DJ Hogg could be on his way out of Sydney, according to Code Sports.

Michael Randall and Matt Logue have reported "Hogg won't return to the Sydney Kings next season", with the club said to have "agreed on a release from his mutual option".

The 27-year-old was one of the stars of the NBL23 campaign while playing for the Cairns Taipans, named in the All-NBL Second Team, but following a highly-touted move to the Kings struggled to re-capture the same form.

Injuries restricted Hogg to just 16 games, but he still managed stat lines of 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and three assists a game.

The Kings have already secured the signature of NBL23 MVP Xavier Cooks, in what has been dubbed the "biggest NBL deal in history" by ESPN's Olgun Uluc.

While there isn't any official news on Hogg's potential exit, the club confirmed the departure of guard Jackson Makoi on Tuesday.

Six-time NBL Coach of the Year and NBL champion Brian Goorjian looks set to make wholesale changes to the Kings' roster after a disappointing campaign, in which they were knocked out in the Play-In stage of the Finals and parted ways with then coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah.
