Creek opens up on departure talk

Tuesday, April 9, 2024
Mitch Creek has addressed rumours linking him with a departure from South East Melbourne.
Mitch Creek has become synonymous with South East Melbourne during his tenure at the club and while there's plenty of interest from overseas, he says a return to the NBL would only be with one team - the Phoenix.
Creek has taken his talents to Chinese side Xinjiang Flying Tigers this off-season, and although the initial contract is only for a short-term stint, admits it would be foolish not to explore all options.
“If I return to the NBL, I will 100 per cent play for South East Melbourne,” Creek told News Corp.
“I am obviously playing in China and the opportunities here are extremely lucrative. My NBL contract allows me to entertain CBA interest, so I’d be a fool not to.
“But, as it stands today, I am contracted with South East Melbourne for the upcoming season.”
The Phoenix look set to reload their roster heading into NBL25. Nathan Sobey and Angus Glover have reportedly agreed to head to the club following their departures from Brisbane and Sydney respectively, while Jordan Hunter is also said to be on the side’s radar, according to Olgun Uluc on The Marketplace.
