The message that changed Davis' life

Kendric Davis opens up about the life-changing message that reshaped his journey.
It was the text message that changed Kendric Davis’ path and it simply read: “Do you have time to talk?”
It was April and Davis was about to head overseas to play when his phone buzzed with the SMS from none other than Matthew Dellavedova.
“I was at the airport getting ready to leave China, but I happily took his call and he said: ‘How can we make this work?’ I replied: ‘You tell me, you’re the NBA champion and I’m trying to get to where you got’.”
"Delly told me I can be special and he believed the Kings needed to play two guards, so it didn’t take much for him to convince me,” Davis told CODE Sports.
Davis made the decision to partner up with “Delly” at the Kings, with his focus purely on making it to the NBA.
“I get to learn all of his habits on and off the floor. I’ve learnt so much from Delly. How he is a husband, father, teammate and person. And it isn’t just about basketball. It’s everything. How you carry yourself away from the court, his maturity has been enormous.”
Davis’ four-year-old son, Kendric Davis Jr, is his inspiration.
“Obviously having my son fuels me even more because I want to teach him the mistakes I went through. My son is the reason I go hard and wear my emotions on my sleeve. I’ve been through a lot in life and basketball is my outlet.”
