NBL champion Mark Worthington believes this is Kendric Davis' 'time to put his team on his back'.

The Sydney Kings haven’t hit the hardwood in 19 days, due to the FIBA Break and the opening week of the Hungry Jack's NBL Finals.

But that will all end on Wednesday night when the Kings host Perth in Game 1 of their Playoff Series.

This fixture will mark Kendric Davis’ first since finishing second, by just two votes, in the MVP count to Adelaide’s Bryce Cotton, which one NBL champion believes will drive the American to produce a massive game.

“I think we're going to see dominance by the Sydney Kings because there's one thing in the back of the Sydney Kings’ mind that Brian Goorjian has been chipping into KD's ear, is I can't believe you didn't win MVP mate,” Mark Worthington said on Wednesday’s episode of NBL Now.

“[KD will be thinking] against a Perth Wildcats team that has struggled against opposition point guards; this is my time to put a team on my back.

“I expect Sydney to come out firing and blazing.”

As much as Davis will be up for his Playoff debut, Worthington has earmarked Perth’s X-factor in trying to stop the electric scorer, who’s averaging 31 points a game this season against Perth.

“It's going to be a great matchup from the get go, but the Perth Wildcats, they've got their work cut out for them,” he said.

“To me, the X-factor in all of this, for Perth, is going to be David Duke Jr.”

Wednesday night’s Game 1 between Sydney and Perth tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
