The Perth Wildcats are aiming to 'cut off the head of the snake' and limit the impact of Sydney's Kendric Davis in their Playoff Series.

The Sydney Kings’ league leading offence starts and generally finishes with one man - Kendric Davis.

To date, Davis is averaging 24.4 points, 6.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.

But that scoring mark is significantly higher in the American’s three games against the Wildcats, averaging 31 points per contest, which all resulted in double-digit for the Kings.

Knowing how dangerous he is, the Wildcats have set out a plan to limit the 26-year-old’s impact on Game 1 of the Playoff Series, with import David Duke Jr tasked with the job of slowing him down.

“A player like him, who is leading the team in scoring, is kind of like the head of the snake. You want to cut the head off so the rest of the body follows,” Duke Jr told The West Australian.

“If we can limit his scoring and keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible, in his mind, he’ll be wanting to score. That’s what he’s used to doing, so if we can limit that, it is where we will have an advantage.

“I understand my assignment is to be a stopper, so I’ll do my best. The way their offence runs is heavily reliant upon him. When you have that, your confidence is higher and it feels like whoever is in front of you doesn’t matter. That’s how he's carried himself and we obviously haven’t been successful against him.”

Wednesday’s Playoff Series opener between the Kings and Wildcats tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
