Cotton blasts former champion: 'I don't respect his opinion'

Five-time MVP Bryce Cotton has fired back at comments made by NBL champion Damon Lowery.
Bryce Cotton is used to giving it to guards on the court, but the five-time MVP now has a fight on his hands with a former one off the court.
>> 'Adelaide doesn't have enough firepower': Lowery
Responding to former champion Damon Lowery's comments, who said he "didn't think the Adelaide 36ers had enough offensive firepower" to win the Hungry Jack's NBL26 Championship, Cotton responded with a broadside of his own.
"He [Lowery] hasn't done enough as a basketball player for me to respect his opinion," Cotton told 10 News.
"I don't usually listen to anybody, especially not him."
Lowery also threw his support behind Illawarra's JaVale McGee as an MVP frontrunner, should the Hawks make the Finals.
Cotton, who is producing career-best numbers in points (29.4, 1st in the league), assists (6), steals (2.4), field goal percentage (50.8) and free-throw percentage (94), said he has full confidence in his side to win it all.
"Anything is possible [with this team]," he added.
"I'm not going to say we do or we don't [have enough offensive firepower], but I never believed in letting anybody put a cap on what we can do as a team or individually."
Cotton's 36ers host McGee's Hawks on Sunday at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, tipping off at 4.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and 10 DRAMA.
