Boomers star Matisse Thybulle is set to bolster the Los Angeles Lakers’ defence after reportedly agreeing to a one-year NBA deal.

Australian Olympic basketball medallist Matisse Thybulle has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

A seven-year veteran of the NBA, Thybulle was an unrestricted free agent and his new deal - not yet been announced publicly - is understood to be worth around $US3.3 million ($4.7 million).

Thybulle was part of the Boomers' historic Olympic bronze medal campaign at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

He will join a Lakers squad headlined by Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic and the two-time All-Defensive team member is expected to help beef up the wing defence.

Thybulle, 29, has spent the last three-plus seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 30 games with the Blazers last season, when he was limited by thumb and knee injuries.

A first-round draft pick in 2019, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Blazers.
