Basketball Australia has announced the 12-man roster that will compete at the FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah next week.

Adam Caporn’s first official duties as the new head coach of the Boomers, has seen him select a team full of young stars to chase the gold in Saudi Arabia.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this group representing Australia and the dedication they’ve shown to the Boomers program,” he said.

“It’s been a strong competitive start to camp, and we feel we’re building something special from these early foundations.”


The team will feature eight NBL players, which includes Next Star and projected 2026 lottery pick Dash Daniels.

Davo Hickey will continue his impressive last 12 months, after helping the Illawarra Hawks to a championship and joining the Chicago Bulls at the NBA Summer League.

There will be a mix of experience sprinkled in with the youth, with Xavier Cooks, Will Magnay, Jack White and Jack McVeigh making the final squad.

Reported Cairns Taipans signing Reyne Smith, will also get his first opportunity to represent Australia after a strong college stint at the University of Louisville.

The Boomers will take on the University of Colorado on Thursday night, before heading to Jeddah where they commence the FIBA Asia Cup quest against Korea on Wednesday, 6 August.
