“The interest in the WNBL is at an all-time high, with more people turning out to watch our game than ever before."

The Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) 2025/26 Finals Series has delivered record results across attendance, reinforcing the league’s growing momentum and the rising appetite for elite women’s basketball in Australia.

The WNBL26 Finals Series featured seven high-intensity games throughout February and March, culminating in one of the most supercharged Championship games the league has ever seen.

After 41 lead changes, the Townsville Fire were ultimately crowned the WNBL26 Champions in front of a sold-out crowd at the Perth High Performance Centre.

Overall, Finals Series attendance increased by 34 per cent compared to the previous season, reflecting unprecedented interest in the season’s final stage.

On average, more than 2,800 fans across the seven games turned out to witness a Finals campaign defined by elite competition, fierce rivalries and the incredible talent now thriving in the WNBL.

WNBL CEO Jennie Sager said the growth in attendance demonstrates the league’s powerful trajectory and the connection the competition is building with fans nationwide.

“The interest in the WNBL is at an all-time high, with more people turning out to watch our game than ever before,” Sager said.

“Throughout the WNBL26 Finals Series we saw packed venues, an electric atmosphere and fans deeply invested in our athletes and clubs. It was a true celebration of everything that is great about women’s basketball.

“This growth is about more than one Finals Series. It’s about building a strong and sustainable foundation for the WNBL to continue to thrive.

"With one in five young girls now playing basketball nationally, the visibility of this league and the pathways available to those young athletes matters more than ever before.”

With momentum building season-on-season, WNBL26 has further cemented the league’s position as one of Australia’s premier women’s sporting competitions, showcasing the depth, athleticism and commercial value of women's basketball.
