"We get to see where we stack up": United on Blitz test

Melbourne United's 2026 CODE Sports NBL Blitz campaign will tip off on Friday night against the Perth Wildcats, and new Head Coach Jacob Chance is looking forward to building on the team's early work.

"One of the things we've been preaching since the start of the pre-season has just been to win every day, and part of that comes back to trying to build our identity and our principles of play that we want to adhere to," Chance told United Media.

"Our mindset has been how quickly we can all get on the same page from a language and identity and a process standpoint.

"I'm really happy with the flow of our daily process and how guys are integrating into how we want to play."

United have already played pre-season games against both South East Melbourne and Cairns as they prepare for a highly anticipated Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season.

"I don't think that [working on process] changes at the Blitz," Chance said.

"I think now we're just adding the kind of external or extrinsic motivator of the results of games, and now we get an opportunity to go and see where we stack up against other teams and see how we deal with being up in a quarter or being down in a quarter.

"It's really just doubling down on what we've been doing over the last month."

Melbourne will take on the Perth Wildcats in Bendigo at 8pm AEST on Friday, before a game against the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday at 2:30pm.

United's star recruits Joe Ingles and Cole Anthony will miss Friday's game due to injury, with Ingles being re-evaluated ahead of Sunday.
