Talking points
Playoff scars
The last time these two teams met with real stakes, Adelaide ended the Phoenix’s season.
Bryce Cotton carried the 36ers to their first Championship Series in eight years with a win over South East Melbourne in the deciding Game 3.
The six-time MVP was simply outstanding in that series and the Phoenix had no answers to slow him down.
While the regular season is a different proposition, what has Josh King learnt about slowing down the Adelaide juggernaut led by the great one?
Turning point
The South East Melbourne Phoenix who beat the Cairns Taipans looked like the team many predicted would contend for a championship this season.
Led by Nathan Sobey, the Phoenix piled on the points and ramped up their defensive pressure to force turnovers.
Phoenix fans will be hoping that game was enough to build on going forward and a big win over another contender in Adelaide would do just that.
