Recently retired Tasmania guard Jarrad Weeks has wasted no time in beginning the next chapter of his career, announced as the JackJumpers’ newest assistant coach.

Weeks announced his playing retirement last week, following 254 games across five different NBL clubs – including his final two seasons with Tasmania.

“I am so excited to transition into this new role and continue to help my teammates grow and develop into a championship winning side,” Weeks said.

“For the latter part of my career I’ve considered coaching at some level would be my next step, so for this opportunity to arise at this stage of my life is perfect.”

“’Weeksy’ is highly respected and regarded by the players, coaches, basketball staff and front office administration,” Co-CEO Jorrick Chivers added. “We couldn’t think of a better person to help the group and club strive for further success.

“Having that close relationship with the playing group is invaluable and I think he’ll thrive in this role.”

Weeks will commence his new role ahead of the NBL24 pre-season, following the culmination of his playing season with Auckland Tuatara in the NZNBL.

Tasmania’s opening game of the new NBL season will come against the Perth Wildcats on Friday, September 29.
