Two Jacks on the table in Hawks' Vegas hand

Jack vs Jack. Same team, same goal, one contract on the line.
Jack White and Jack McVeigh are headed to Summer League with the Atlanta Hawks - but they might be battling for the same job.
As revealed by ESPN’s Olgun Uluc on Marketplace, the Hawks have two two-way contracts left to hand out, with expectations that only one Aussie will be seriously considered.
“It does feel like Jack McVeigh and Jack White are competing for the same spot, and it seems like there is an opening there. The team does like both of them, both of them have different but unique and impressive resumes,” Uluc said on The Marketplace.
McVeigh joins the Hawks' Summer League squad off the back of being waived by the Houston Rockets earlier this year, while White became a free agent following his decision to leave Melbourne United for overseas opportunities.
After a stint with Bayern Munich during the off-season, White made his way to the US to work out with NBA teams.
According to Uluc, the Hawks have taken notice of the 2023 NBA champion.
“There is more an indication that they like him more than just a guy who’s rocking up for Summer League,” Uluc continued.
NBL champion and analyst Pete Hooley said what makes this even more compelling is seeing the pair share the court, while knowing they may be fighting for the same future.
“It will be fun to watch, they both bring very different things to the organisation. They [Hawks] already have an Aussie connection there with Dyson Daniels being there, so they will be two to keep an eye on,” Hooley said.
The 2025 NBA Summer League starts from July 11, Australian time, with exclusive interviews and insights available on the NBL App and NBL.com.au.
