With the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas now over, the Illawarra Hawks are reportedly close to adding some firepower to their Hungry Jack’s NBL27 roster.
With Tyler Harvey, Sam Froling, Todd Blanchfield, Dan Grida, Will Hickey, Kobe McDowell-White, Johny Narkle, Mason Peatling, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk, and recruit Amarco Doyle all signed, the NBL25 champions just need a few additions around the edges.
According to the Illawarra Mercury, talks are advanced with players the Hawks are looking to recruit, with Crest Sport and Entertainment vice-chairman Terry Egger saying ‘the club will have a very clear picture of what the roster looks like soon’.
"You either move early, or you move late in terms of your roster. With the position we are in, I think JT (Justin Tatum) and Mat [Campbell] have determined that it's better in this instance to be patient,” Egger said to the Illawarra Mercury.
"We've got a great core returning. We just have to add a few key pieces that can make all the difference, as we saw a couple of years ago with Trey [Kell III], Darius [Days], HJ [Hyunjung Lee] and Lachie [Olbrich].
"We're very excited about some of the things and conversations that JT and Mat have been having. Nothing has been done yet, but 10 days from now we'll have a very clear picture of what the roster looks like."
The Hawks open their 2026-27 campaign on Sunday, September 20 against the New Zealand Breakers at Spark Arena.
