REPORT: Phoenix in talks to extend coach

On the back of South East Melbourne Phoenix producing their best-ever NBL regular season, it is being reported the club are in talks to extend head coach Josh King.

According to CODE Sports, the 19-8 Phoenix are in the process of extending coach King’s contract, despite there already being one year left to run on his current deal.

Since arriving at the Heartland club, King has guided the club to a 35-18 record, as well as a Playoff appearance during the Hungry Jack’s NBL25 season.

Prior to this season, the Phoenix’s best regular season record, through its seven-year existence, was 19-17 in the 2020-21 campaign.

Second-placed South East Melbourne travels to Perth on Wednesday night for an Ignite Cup clash with the Wildcats, tipping off at 9.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
