Ready to Ignite: Bullets take Wednesday NBL to the Gold Coast

Tuesday, June 24, 2025

"This is an exciting opportunity for the Bullets and the NBL to take the Ignite Cup to new audiences."

The Brisbane Bullets are set to host two regular season games on the Gold Coast, as part of the newly launched Ignite Cup.

The Hungry Jack’s NBL's new in-season tournament will reshape Wednesday nights, with 20 extra games locked in, results going towards the race to the Finals race and a massive $400,000 up for grabs.

The Bullets are set to play two games at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, their first regular season fixtures at the venue since 2019.

They also won the Blitz hosted at the venue, leading into the NBL25 Season.

Brisbane Bullets CEO Mal Watts said the Gold Coast games would be a milestone moment for the club.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the Bullets and the NBL to take the Ignite Cup to new audiences and deliver top-tier basketball to fans in South East Queensland,” Watts said.

The Bullets will take on the New Zealand Breakers on Wednesday, November 12, before welcome Bryce Cotton, Montrezl Harrell and the Adelaide 36ers on Wednesday, January 28.

The Ignite Cup promises to be more than just a new tournament - it’s a celebration of basketball culture. Every game will feature a unique game-day experience for fans inside the arena and for those watching at home.

Adding another layer of excitement to every possession, the Ignite Cup will have a unique scoring system that goes beyond just the final game result. While the winning club will still be awarded 3 points for securing the overall victory, teams also earn 1 point for each quarter they win. In instances where both clubs score an equal number of points in a quarter, a half-point (0.5) will be awarded to each.

This innovative format means every quarter becomes a mini-battle, ensuring a high-stakes, competitive atmosphere from tip-off to the final buzzer, as teams vie for crucial points on the dedicated Ignite Cup ladder.
