The New Zealand National Basketball League is stacked with NBL talent.

Although some stars were out representing Australia in Japan for the Nippon Life Cup 2024, young Hawk Lachie Olbrich starred for the Canterbury Rams in the New Zealand league.

Olbrich finished on 32 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in their win over the Wellington Saints. The Breakers' Max Darling also contributed, alongside Olbrich with five points and six rebounds.

Ben Ayre was strong for the Saints' game one win over the weekend in an unselfish display of dominance. In their win over Keanu Rasmussen and Josh Roberts' Hawkes Bay Hawks, Ayre contributed with a double-double of 29 points and 11 assists.

Bullets' big man Tohi Smith-Milner helped Ayre with an impactful 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Rasmussen scored 11 points with three rebounds and one assist in their loss to the Saints, while Taipans import Roberts did all that he could to hang on until the end, with 15 points and 14 impressive rebounds.

The Otago Nuggets' Jack Andrew hold down the fort with several Wildcats teammates unavailable. Andrew finished with nine points and five rebounds.
