It was a decisive 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter that secured victory for the Americans.

The NBL Next Stars team fell just short of an historic Adidas Eurocamp title overnight, losing the championship game to 3SSB Select 77-84.

In what was a highly-competitive spectacle – played in front of over 70 NBA scouts and executives in Treviso, Italy – it was a decisive 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter that secured victory for the Americans.

Five-star prospect Caleb Holt was the game’s leading scorer (19 points), while Finals MVP Bo Ogden (15), Colben Landrew (13) and Anthony Thompson (12) also scored in double digits.

Holt, who finished the event averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals per game, was named Eurocamp MVP.

For the Next Stars, it was highly-ranked prospect Abdou Toure who led the way with 15 points, Julius Price scored 14, Malique Lewis had 12 and Victorian youngster Jai Fa’ale scored 10.

Lewis, a Next Star with the South East Melbourne Phoenix, was ultimately named to the camp’s All-Tournament Team, joining German Ivan Kharchenkov, Serbian Andrej Kostic, American Deron Rippey Jr. and Senegalese center Mouhamed Faye.

Italian Saliou Niang was named the Eurocamp’s Defensive MVP, while Brazilian Mathias Vazquez and American Bruce Branch III were recognised as Rising Stars.

The final capped off a highly successful week for the Next Stars group, who turned heads in Treviso with their impressive play and outstanding chemistry. Under the mentorship of head coach Phil Handy, a member of three NBA Championship-winning coaching staff, and assistant coach Kyle Hines, a legend of European basketball and current Brooklyn Nets assistant coach, the Next Stars team finished their first Eurocamp appearance with a 2-1 record and a second place finish.
