NBL champions lllawarra sign sharp-shooter Jonah Anontio as nominated replacement player.

The reigning NBL champions, Illawarra Hawks, have signed sharp-shooter Jonah Antonio as a nominated replacement player for the Hungry Jack's NBL26 Season.

After three seasons with the Cairns Taipans, where he showcased his ability to heat up from deep and lock down top scorers, 28-year-old guard Antonio will join Justin Tatum's side for the upcoming campaign.

Since leaving far north Queensland, Antonio donned the green and gold of Australia at the recent 3x3 World Cup in Mongolia, before averaging 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 triples per game with East Perth in the NBL1 West competition.

Antonio, as well as other recent signing Biwali Bayles, are currently with the Hawks in Singapore for their FIBA Intercontinental Cup campaign.

Illawarra opens their NBL26 season with a home fixture against Tasmania on Saturday, October 27 from 8pm AEST.

Prior to the WIN Entertainment Centre clash, the club will raise their NBL25 Championship banner to the rafters.

The Round 2 fixture will be broadcast on ESPN.
