Missing the point: Lowery highlights Wildcats’ glaring gap

Dylan Windler’s breakout Blitz showing proves he can be a major weapon, but Perth’s point guard puzzle remains unsolved.
The Perth Wildcats ushered in a new era at the CODE Sports NBL Blitz, and despite not being at full strength, they showed plenty of promising signs for what’s to come in NBL26.
“We didn’t get to see Jo Lual-Acuil (Jr.), Kristian Doolittle sat out game two, but I’m extremely impressed with Dylan Windler,” Damon Lowery said on NBL Now.
“The left-handed sniper who had a couple moments last season, showed us what he’s really capable of. I’m looking forward to another full season of him.”
Windler’s aggressive approach throughout the Blitz was an encouraging sign for the Wildcats, who will need more players to step up after Bryce Cotton's exit.
However, Perth still faces a significant challenge in filling the starting point guard role, a piece that could ultimately shape their chances in the title race.
“On paper… even without a point guard, that team is still top four-ish,” Lowery said.
“But Benny Henshall, with all due respect… he is not a point guard. He is a scoring two guard. He did some ball carrying duties because it was a Blitz, but they have got to go get a PG.”
With marquee big man Lual-Acuil Jr. and Sunday Dech sidelined, Lowery believes the Wildcats’ ultimate ceiling hinges on who steps in as their floor general.
“They're going to be up there around the mix. I'm reserving all Championship predictions until I see who this PG is.”
The Wildcats have another two pre-season games ahead of their season-opener against the JackJumpers on September 20.
