Lowery explains what Bullets and Taipans need

"You’ve gotta have a man or a woman who can come in and command the room."

The vacant head coaching roles at the Brisbane Bullets and Cairns Taipans have created a buzz around the NBL, and Damon Lowery has stated exactly what both clubs need.

The Bullets parted ways with Justin Schueller, claiming they were looking ahead and wanting to make the best decision for future success, whilst Taipans’ Adam Forde will remain connected to the club, but explore opportunities elsewhere.

Speaking on NBL Now, 2001 NBL champion Lowery stated the next head coach for both clubs needs to portray “strong leadership”.

“Strong leadership, the X’s and O’s tend to take care of themselves. But you’ve gotta have a man or a woman who can come in and command the room. So those players know that the bus stops right here,” Lowery said.

“Somebody you can just tell they have a presence about them. They’ve gotta be able to manage men, manage adults, hold people accountable, not pay lip service.

“Players are the best BS detectors…if somebody walks into the office and into the interview and I don’t feel their presence, sorry, you’re not the one for the job.”
