Perth's problem
The Perth Wildcats find themselves in the middle of a rough patch and one that could decide whether they’ll play post-season basketball or not.

The biggest problem for the Wildcats right now is the fact that their recent losses have come after playing some exceptional basketball in the first half.

Right now this team is struggling to hold onto a lead and win in the clutch and ever since that fourth quarter against Adelaide, it looks as if they are fighting some mental demons in those moments.

Tasmania on the up
The JackJumpers have won three of their last four games, with two of those being over Sydney and South East Melbourne.

Now that this team is healthy, they look like a completely different proposition than they did at the beginning of the season.

This isn’t new territory for the JackJumpers, who have had slow beginnings in three of their seasons since they entered the league and managed to turn around all of those to make a championship run.

What they're saying

JackJumpers coach Scott Roth on the growth of Josh Bannan:
“I always tell him that because he's quite attentive to a lot of things and he's very on it with an A personality, that's just in his DNA and he doesn't have to overthink things.

"He just has to go and do his job and that is who he is. His work rate is just tremendous for us and I thought he's got a lot better over the course of the season of letting some things go, and not think too much about a foul here or a missed shot there, and just moving to the next play.

"That's a growth period for him and he has a huge motor which is undeniable when he's in that kinda mode."

Wildcats import David Duke Jr on his side's fade-game fades:
"It’s hard to win games when you give up a lot of offensive rebounds and give them extra possessions.

“It’s just the timing of the game as well. When we are up, we have to not have a relaxed mindset and not trying to slow it down. When a team is right there and breaking, we need to put our foot down, break these teams and impose our will.

“These last few home games, we have come out great. We have all the energy, and we’re juiced up coming out of the gate.

“But teams are good. I’m sure teams are watching previous games and what got those teams back in. It was threes and offensive rebounds. It’s more in our hands than anything. I think we are right there, so we’ve just got to continue to chip away.”
