Melbourne United assistant coach Justin Schueller has declared Chris Goulding looks as good as he has ever been in the past four years.

Melbourne United assistant coach Justin Schueller has declared Chris Goulding looks as good as he has ever been in the past four years.

Goulding had a resurgence last season, averaging 17 points per game for United, his highest scoring average since the 2015/16 campaign.

The COVID-19 halted offseason has done nothing to slow Goulding down according to Schueller, as the 31-year-old prepares to begin the first year of a new three-year deal with Melbourne.

“I don’t think I’ve seen Chris in a better way to be honest in my four years with him,” Schueller told SEN.

“He had an outstanding World Cup last year and if you look at the comparison to now, I think his body is in great shape, the way he’s shooting the ball and just his movement as well.

“If we can keep him going (and trending upwards), it will put him and the team in the best position they’ve been in a while.”

United will look to get back to the Grand Final this season with newcomers Jack White, Mason Peatling and Yudai Baba joining mainstays Goulding, Mitch McCarron, David Barlow, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr, Sam McDaniel, Shea Ili and Sam Short.

The 2020/21 NBL season is expected to tip-off in mid-January.
