South East Melbourne announced on Wednesday that they are welcoming Akech Aliir back to the Heartland, with the forward signing a two-year deal with the Phoenix.
Aliir first featured for the Phoenix during the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Season, playing 29 games and averaging 4.3 points and 2.5 rebounds throughout the campaign.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said Aliir provided great attributes on and off the court.
“We see Akech as a player who adds real value to the team. He can swing between the four and five spots, brings length, athleticism, and will continue to get better with another pre-season under his belt," Mitchell said.
“Akech is much loved in the locker room, was a great teammate and stayed ready for the entire season.
“I feel like he is just scratching the surface on what he can achieve in the sport."
Akech joins Nathan Sobey, Jordi Hunter, Angus Glover, Owen Foxwell, Tanner Krebs, Hunter Goodrick, Pat Ryan and Ellis Biggar on Josh King’s side for next season.
