DeMarcus Cousins on why he became an NBL fan

DeMarcus Cousins nearly played in the NBL. The four-time NBA All-Star tells Pete Hooley the League was a real option as he weighed overseas offers late in his career, but the business side “just didn’t make sense” at the time. A comeback now? He’s laughing that one off.

Instead, he became a fan. Cousins says discovering Bryce Cotton’s legacy pulled him in, to the point he tried to recruit Cotton as a teammate himself.

Now a HoopsFest ambassador, he breaks down the NBL’s “hoop game soap opera”, its old-school, no-friendly-stuff competitiveness, and why every team in one place in Perth is a win for fans and players.
