Adelaide 36ers superstar Bryce Cotton admits he and his teammates remain ‘in the dark’ about the future of Montrezl Harrell.
The 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year didn’t suit up for the 36ers during Sunday’s Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament clash with Panathinaikos, amid a matter raised during his time with Chinese club Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
During an interview with SEN SA Breakfast on Wednesday, five-time NBL MVP Cotton explained how the playing group were still coming to terms with the news.
“I can’t really talk too much about what happened because I don’t have all the information, because it’s all happened very fast,” Cotton said via SEN SA Breakfast.
“All the higher-ups are figuring that stuff out. It was all news to us; we’re still in the dark about it and learning [for ourselves].”
Cotton went on to say, in light of Harrell’s potential absence, he believes Isaac Humphries can make the most of the extra opportunity, while stating the club would have to ‘find a player that can match what Trezz brought us’ if they went down the route of a replacement.
“It’s about seeing how we can pull a rabbit out of a hat in a quick time. The NBA is going to start making some cuts, so that’s a good window to catch some heavy talent,” three-time NBL champion Cotton said.
The 36ers tip off their 2025-26 Hungry Jack’s NBL campaign on Sunday, with a home match against Brisbane.
The round two clash tips off at 4.30pm AEST, live on ESPN and Channel 10.
