Championship Wildcat returns home

Tuesday, April 22, 2025
The Perth Wildcats have signed Sunday Dech on a three-year deal.
Sunday Dech will return to his first NBL home next season, signing with the Perth Wildcats on a three-year deal.
The two-time NBL champion spent the past five seasons with the Adelaide 36ers, but is set to head back to where it all began, having begun his career at the 'Cats in 2013.
He won championships in Perth in 2014 and 2019.
“When you grow up and it's your childhood team and then you end up playing for them, it's always something you dream of, coming in and finishing your career at the team where it all started,” Dech said.
“By no means am I close to finishing my career, but it is something that I'm excited and grateful that it's happened earlier, rather than later in my career.”
The 31-year-old's experience in the league was what caught head coach John Rillie's attention, and he explained how the veteran guard will be a great fit for the team.
“We’re delighted to sign Sunday who we think will add so much to our roster from both a playing and leadership perspective,” Rillie said.
“He’s a high-level defensive player and versatile guard who’s got elite leadership traits and is the ultimate professional on and off the court.”
Dech joins Doolittle, Windler, Jesse Wagstaff, Elijah Pepper and Tom Gerovich, who are all contracted for NBL26.
