New Zealand Breakers star Sam Mennenga has suffered a broken wrist.

Sam Mennenga’s NBL26 campaign has come to a disappointing end, after suffering a broken wrist in Friday night’s loss to Adelaide.

Mennenga suffered a heavy fall during the fourth quarter of last night’s contest. Post-game X-rays confirmed a fracture in his wrist. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to check for any further damage.

“Sam sustained a wrist fracture following a heavy fall in the fourth quarter," Breakers President of Basketball Operations, Dillon Boucher said.

“Unfortunately, he will be out for 6-8 weeks to allow the bone time to heal."

The 24-year-old has had a breakout season with New Zealand, arguably in the driver’s seat for the Most Improved Player Award.

The devastating news comes after import Rob Baker II was also ruled out for the season, sustaining an ACL injury at HoopsFest.

The Breakers are seventh on the ladder with their next game being a must-win matchup against Melbourne United in Round 19.
