As part of their NBL26 preparations, the New Zealand Breakers will test themselves against Japan’s Nagasaki Velca and Kumamoto Volters in a two-game pre-season tour this September.

The New Zealand Breakers are set to face off against two Japanese B.LEAGUE teams next month, as preparations heat up for the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Season.

Over the course of two days on September 12 and 13, the Breakers will play Nagasaki Velca (B1 League) and Kumamoto Volters (B2).

Nagasaki is coached by former New Zealand coach Mody Maor, alongside associate head coach Paul Henare.

“This will be a great opportunity for our team to test themselves against a different style of play and to see where we're at in our pre-season preparations,” New Zealand’s President of Basketball Operations Dillon Boucher said.

“Breakers alumni are everywhere in the basketball world, and this trip is a great example of that,” Chairman Marc Mitchell continued. “We are excited to take the BNZ Breakers to Japan and showcase our brand of basketball to new audiences.

“This will be about cultural exchange and building friendships in the world of basketball.”

The Breakers will play two exhibition games during their trip:

New Zealand v Nagasaki Velca
Friday, September 12, 7pm

New Zealand v Kumamoto Volters
Saturday, September 13, 5pm

The Perth Wildcats previously announced they will welcome two B.LEAGUE teams to Australia in mid-September for the ‘Perth Wildcats Invitational’.
