Melbourne United recruit Yudai Baba has impressed during the club’s preseason training sessions according to assistant coach Justin Schueller.
Baba joined Melbourne in July after most recently playing in the NBA G-League with the Texas Legends. The 24-year-old also starred for Japan at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, posting 18 points against Team USA.
Now on court with his new United teammates, Baba has showcased the mouth-watering abilities which are sure to make him a player to watch in NBL21.
“The way he shoots the ball is truly exceptional, his attention and the way his footwork works and his skill…he’s going to be an exciting player,” Schueller told SEN.
“The thing that has really stood out to me is how good he can shoot the ball."
Baba was signed as a Special Restricted Player and is classified as a local player on the Melbourne roster.
The 2020/21 NBL season is slated to begin in mid-January.
