Brian Goorjian has strongly backed Matthew Dellavedova and rejected Mike Wells’ criticism of the officiating around Bryce Cotton.

There’s no doubt the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Championship Series has been one of the fiercest in recent history.

From the back and forth between MVP rivals Bryce Cotton and Kendric Davis, to the constant war of words and jabs between the two franchises, this Series has been explosive on and off the court.

The latest to add to the drama is Kings coach Brian Goorjian, who called out his counterpart, Mike Wells, for his post-game comments regarding Matthew Dellavedova in Game 3.

"I was pretty disappointed in the comments made after the game by their coach about Delly [after Game 3],” Goorjian said to SEN Radio.

"There was a lot coming out of his mouth in the press conference about Delly and fouling.

"Let's go back in history here in the NBA and LeBron James commenting on being down 3-1 and putting Delly on [Stephen] Curry and bringing a championship to Cleveland. He took note of Delly, spoke about it and still does.

"Then, going to the only medal in the history of our country, a bronze medal, and Delly guarding Luca [Doncic] in key moments.

"It's what he's built for, it's what he does. He's done an incredible job and should be acknowledged. He's an Australian icon and something that our country should be proud of.

“A foul's a foul, [but] the kid [on Sunday] was incredible defensively.

"We have a respect for Bryce, but to finger-point the kid, after I've watched the game twice afterwards, I just thought it was off."

Through the first three games of the Series, Cotton is only averaging 16.7 points a game, while shooting 36.2 per cent from the field, significantly lower than his season averages of 25.6 points and 43.8 per cent.

Game 4 of the Championship Series tips off at 7.30pm AEDT on Wednesday at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, live on ESPN and 10 Drama in Sydney and Adelaide.
