The Australian Gangurrus, who have a distinct NBL flavour, have suffered two more defeats at the 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Poland.
After losing their opening two matches to Spain and Austria, the Gangurrus, featuring new Perth Wildcat Alex Higgins-Titsha, former Cairns Taipans Lachlan Barker and Jonah Antonio, and NBL24 champion Jarred Bairstow, again fell short in the next stage.
On Wednesday evening AEST, the Adam Forde-coached Gangurrus first went down to Madagascar 22-17, before falling 20-16 to Serbia.
In the losses, Antonio and Higgins-Titsha led the way with 7 points respectively against Madagascar and Serbia.
These results wrap up Australia’s Pool A matches, with the competition now transitioning into finals.
In other news, the women’s Gangurrus side, coached by 2001 NBL champion Damon Lowery and featuring 2024 Olympians Amy Atwell and Marena Whittle, newly signed Townsville Fire wing Emma Clarke and incoming Southside Melbourne Flyers forward Hannah Hank, split their opening two fixtures.
A 21-15 win over Mongolia tipped off their tournament before Lowery’s side lost 21-18 to the United States.
The green and gold side return to the court on Thursday AEST against Spain and Hungary.
All matches will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports and the FIBA YouTube Channel.
