Perth Wildcats coach John Rillie has expressed his frustration after Thursday night’s loss against the Brisbane Bullets.

The Wildcats lost after a disappointing stint in overtime, where they were outscored 14-3, leading to a 106-95 loss to the Bullets.

Rillie mentioned the “bad mistakes” which plagued the ‘Cats towards the end of the game, including a free throw violation which led to a vital extra point for Brisbane in the final minute of regulation.

“It’s not the end score, and it’s not overtime. It’s how we got to that part of the game,” Rillie said.

“The game is full of mistakes, it’s how you recover from making a mistake. We make some bad mistakes and the opposition does a very good job of capitalising on them.”

The Wildcats have had an inconsistent season, winning their first four games, before stumbling to the lower end of the ladder.

They sit seventh with a 5-7 record, a disappointing start to Rillie’s coaching career.

Captain Jesse Wagstaff once again lamented the team making several mistakes during the game.

“I feel like I’ve said this a few times already, it’s just inconsistency,” he said.

“JR said it’s the O-boards in the first quarter, D-trans in the second, something else in the third, and then something else in the fourth."

Rillie says the Wildcats’ must be at their best on Saturday when they face the league leading New Zealand Breakers.

“I would say right now they’re playing the best in the NBL. You can tell that they’re a connected team, and they’re playing very well at both ends of the floor. We better bring our mojo when we show up to New Zealand,” Rillie said.

The Wildcats play the Breakers on Saturday at 5:30pm AEDT.
