Cairns Taipans guard Kyle Adnam will play his 250th NBL game on Wednesday night.

Wednesday's Ignite Cup fixture will be an extra special one for Cairns guard Kyle Adnam.

The Melbourne-born talent will bring up his 250th NBL game when his Taipans battle the Perth Wildcats at the Cairns Convention Centre.

"[Firstly], thank you to everyone who has supported me [on this journey]," Adnam said.

"To play 250 games is incredible. Hopefully there's many more games but the journey so far has been absolutely amazing and I wouldn't change a thing.

"The people you meet and the relationships you build have been unbelievable.

"It's been an exciting journey and I can't thank everyone enough."

Adnam's journey started in Lillydale, Victoria, where he began playing basketball with the Kilsyth Cobras. This led to his first NBL contract with the Adelaide 36ers during the 2013-14 season, where he debuted on March 8, 2014 against the Townsville Crocodiles.

That was one of three appearances Adnam made for the 36ers that season before penning a one-year deal with the Wollongong Hawks. This was followed by stints with Melbourne United (2015-18), Sydney Kings (2018-19), South East Melbourne Phoenix (2019-2023), Illawarra Hawks (2024) and Cairns Taipans (2024 to present).

During these 249 matches, the 2018 NBL champion has amassed 1,726 points, 523 assists and 303 rebounds.

As successful as he's been on the court, he's made an even bigger impact off it, as shown by the nice comments from his current Taipans teammates and import duo Marcus Lee and Admiral Schofield.

"Congrats man, 250 is a big number and we've been in this league for a while now. Not many people hit that landmark, so well done. You're a great dude and I'm super excited to have you lead us this year," Lee said.

"Kyle, you look younger than you are man, but I'm proud of you man. I've gotten to know you the past few months and you've taken me under your wing, so I appreciate you. We know you pour yourself into all the people around you, so congratulations [on the milestone]," Schofield said.

Wednesday's Indigenous Round fixture tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
