Tasmania’s new NBL team is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Finnegan as its General Manager Commercial and Marketing.
Finnegan has held senior commercial and marketing positions at St Kilda Football Club, Melbourne Storm and the Melbourne Rebels. She will start her new role next month.
Team Tasmania Chief Executive Simon Brookhouse said: “We are delighted to welcome Christine. This is a very important appointment as we build the brand of the new team in Tasmania and look to secure our first commercial partners.
“Christine brings a vast array of experience to the position through her different roles in sport and business and has a proven track record in delivering commercial and marketing outcomes that will help build the foundations for a strong club.
“We will announce further appointments over the coming weeks and months as the club starts to take shape as we look forward to Tasmania’s entry into the Hungry Jack’s NBL in the 2021-22 season.”
Finnegan said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Tasmania’s new NBL team and to be part of what is one of the most exciting opportunities in Australian sport.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Tasmania over the years through my family connections there and I’m looking forward to working with the local community to build a team all Tasmanians can be proud of.
“There is tremendous excitement across Tasmania about having their own team in a national sporting league and already significant interest from the local business community about what is a unique opportunity for the state. l can’t wait to get started.”
The team will shortly announce the shortlist of names for the new team following a campaign asking Tasmanians to nominate their preferred names. It will also soon launch its Foundation Memberships ahead of its entry to the Hungry Jack’s NBL in 2021-22.
