Adelaide 36ers superstar Isaac Humphries will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Adelaide 36ers superstar Isaac Humphries will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

Veteran journalist and NBL commentator John Casey broke the story on 7News Adelaide, and published a subsequent article in The Adelaide Advertiser saying the 24-year-old won’t play again this season – the club put out a statement regarding Humphries’ rehab.

36ers General Manager of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen said the team is already working hard to find a replacement for Humphires and he didn’t rule out bringing in another import.

“Isaac is a massive loss and not easily replaced, so to have the option of bringing in a third import is something we will consider,” Van Groningen told The Adelaide Advertiser.

“We will look at the local talent available as well, and obviously the great form of Cam Bairstow and continued development of Kai Sotto holds us in good stead in the interim.”

Humphries played just six matches this season, averaging 7.7 points in 17.7 minutes per game.

“Isaac will take this time to rehab his knee and concentrate on his body in order to get back to the level we know he is capable of,” Van Groningen said.

“He’s a former NBL Rookie of the Year, has attracted NBA attention and call-ups, possesses a skill-set that’s very hard to find, and has just turned 24.

“He gave it a real shot this season, but he now needs this time to get the body right.”
