Phoenix add Moore to the mix

"It’s great to have a player of that size who can be your primary ball-handler and decision-maker."
The South East Melbourne Phoenix have secured a major signing in their NBL26 build, landing American guard Omari Moore on a one-year contract.
Moore has spent time in the NBA’s G-League, Canada, and most recently Turkey, after a successful college career at San Jose.
He made 29 appearances with Darussafaka Lassa in the Turkish Basketball Super League during the 2024–2025 campaign, averaging 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
Moore stands at 6’6”, with Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell saying his size and versatility set him apart.
“It’s great to have a player of that size who can be your primary ball-handler and decision-maker, but also swing to other positions when required. His size also allows him to defend at multiple positions,” Mitchell told the club’s website.
“Omari is extremely skilled, exceptional in the open court and that will no doubt translate to the Australian game which we’re excited about.”
Moore is the first import signed to the Phoenix roster for the upcoming season and joins Nathan Sobey, Angus Glover, Jordan Hunter, Owen Foxwell, Akech Aliir, Gorjok Gak, DJ Mitchell, Malique Lewis, and Daniel Foster as confirmed signings ahead of NBL26.
