Perth's newest import, David Duke Jr, believes he is going to "cause havoc" on the defensive end.

Perth's newest signing David Duke Jr arrived in Australia on Monday and is ready to make an instant impact, especially on the defensive end.

During his introductory press conference on Monday, the former Brooklyn Net and San Antonio Spur, who will debut for Perth during Wednesday night's Ignite Cup fixture, explained how he intends to influence success on the court for the 4-4 Wildcats.

“I’m hoping to bring a different dynamic at the guard position. I’m definitely looking to play fast and bring some explosiveness and defensive tenacity and just get after it," Duke said during the press conference.

“Being a bigger guard and being able to cause havoc on that [defensive] end and then playing in transition is one of my strengths. I think those two are the main two things I will be able to bring to this team.

“Everybody has the potential to be a great defender. It’s about your heart and desire to want to guard for however many minutes you are going to play in that game. I feel that is an easier side to fit in other than the offence side."

The 6'4 combo guard then explained why he's excited to join the club's "winning history" and be part of the fast-paced NBL.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things [about the Wildcats]," he said.

"I’ve talked to a few people who know the NBL and who know this organisation who had really high things to say.

"I’m looking for an opportunity to play really good basketball. It was an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up.

“I’ve watched a bunch of NBL games so far. I think the way the game is, the pace is up there with the G-League and NBA as well.

"That’s another reason why for me it is a good fit."

Perth play two games in Round 7, beginning in Tasmania on Wednesday (which duo Dylan Windler (ankle - who will be replaced by Jarron Rillie) and Noa Kouakou-Heugue (hip flexor) will mss), before heading to Melbourne to play the Phoenix on Saturday night at John Cain Arena.

Both of those Indigenous Round fixtures will be live on ESPN.
