The Perth Wildcats are reportedly exploring "all options" with injured star David Duke Jr, who appears set to miss extended time with torn ligaments in his elbow.
The Perth Wildcats are reportedly exploring all options with injured star David Duke Jr.
The American import injured his elbow during the Wildcats loss to the 36ers in Adelaide on December 28 and subsequently missed the team's wins over Brisbane and New Zealand.
Reporting by 10 News Perth's Lachy Reid says Duke Jr suffered two torn ligaments in his left elbow and could miss up to 12 weeks, despite not needing surgery.
"The Perth Wildcats are evaluating all options, Duke likely out for some time, so club looking at options," Reid said via X.
"Duke’s timeline dependant on how he responds to treatment. Cats must cover all bases at a crucial time of season."
ESPN's Olgun Uluc added that if John Rillie's side were going to replace Duke Jr, they would need to do so in the coming weeks, to ensure that player is qualified for the post-season.
"January 25, a game vs Melbourne, is also when the Perth Wildcats need a replacement player suited up by, assuming they end up signing one," Uluc said via X.
Duke Jr is averaging 12.8 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1 steal per game during his 12 matches for the Wildcats in NBL26.
Perth next hit the hardwood on Saturday night, travelling to the State Basketball Centre to play the South East Melbourne Phoenix from 8pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
