NBL1 has officially kicked off in South Australia, as the Central conference got its season underway this past weekend.

The other four conferences will all open their campaigns in the coming weeks and NBL stars will return to the court over the course of their seasons.

A trio of Adelaide 36ers were in action in the opening weekend for the Central conference. Both Alex Starling and development player Jacob Rigoni starred for South Adelaide and Sturt respectively, while Harvey White suffered defeat for the Tigers.

Starling’s return to South Adelaide following their semi-final defeat to Sturt was announced in the days leading up to the game, and the veteran forward continued his dominance of the conference in the opening weekend as he racked up 29 points, 19 rebounds and five steals in the Panthers’ win over White’s Tigers.

White added 13 points and five assists in the defeat.

Jacob Rigoni took charge in Sturt’s big win over Forestville and shot almost 70 per cent from the field en route to a game-high 34 points.

36ers legend and NBL24 injury replacement player Daniel Johnson featured for the Eagles in the defeat. He ended the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

NBL1 Central will continue this weekend, while NBL1 West will open its season.
