NBL launches 2025-26 Indigenous Round

Students from the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) were joined by NBL Group CEO David Stevenson, South East Melbourne Phoenix player John Brown III and Melbourne United’s Kyle Bowen for a special photoshoot today celebrating the launch of the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Indigenous Round.

Students proudly wore the NBL and WNBL Indigenous Round jerseys, each showcasing powerful designs created by First Nations artists that tell stories of culture, community, and connection to Country.

The jerseys, along with this year’s official Indigenous-themed Spalding game ball, represent the vibrant storytelling at the heart of the round, honouring the heritage and ongoing contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Australian basketball.

“Indigenous Round continues to remind us that sport has the power to unite and educate,” NBL Group CEO David Stevenson said.

"Through the art, the stories, and the visibility of incredible First Nations players, referees and leaders, we’re helping to create role models who inspire the next generation to dream big and believe in what’s possible."

The Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Indigenous Round tips off on Thursday, October23, with the New Zealand Breakers taking on Brisbane Bullets, immediately followed by South East Melbourne Phoenix hosting the Sydney Kings.

All games will be broadcast live on ESPN.
