The National Basketball League has launched NBLMVC – Most Valuable Creator, an Australian-first creator program built to find, celebrate and elevate the next generation of basketball storytellers.

With $100,000 up for grabs for the winner, and $10,000 to the runner up, the MVC invites content creators into the NBL ecosystem to tell the story of the game, their way.

Chief Media and Content Officer Heath O'Loughlin said the program reflected the League's ambitions to innovate and meet new fans wherever they already are.

“More than ever fans follow people they trust, and increasingly, those people are now creators. That's changed the game for how sport markets itself. A creator sitting courtside can put the NBL in front of an audience that has never watched a game, and do it in a way that feels genuine rather than rehearsed," O’Loughlin said.

"We stopped thinking of creators as an add-on to our marketing. They're now one of the main ways we tell our story, find new fans and bring them into the building.

"We want to see the NBL through their eyes, and we can't wait to see what they create and who they bring into the game with them."

Leagues around the world are embracing creators as part of a wider circle of voices around the game. NBL MVC is a world-first that brings that global movement to a league already growing in broadcast audiences, attendances, digital footprint and commercial support.

Built on four pillars: Culture, Community, Creativity and Competition, the NBL is looking for originality, personality and a point of view. Open to creators across basketball, music, fashion, comedy, food, photography, podcasting, art and culture, NBL MVC will come to life throughout the Hungry Jack's NBL27 season.

Six established mentors will guide creators along the way: Nathanael "Nate" Coory (Baseline Hoops), Danny Grant, Fashion Critical, Harry Brown (Roaming Haz), Jaimie Sultana and Cheets (Type Media).

Drawn from across the creator landscape, each will share their own voice and show how they connect with the NBL, opening the door for the next wave of creators.
