Luke Travers Drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers

Perth Wildcats youngster Luke Travers’ NBA dream is a reality, after he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 56^th pick.

After a strong three seasons of development in Perth, Travers started appearing on NBA radars. He then worked out with eight teams in the lead-up to the draft, including Cleveland, where he showcased his oozing potential.

The 20-year-old averaged 7.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season, while displaying his versatility, athleticism, and basketball smarts.

Earlier this week, Travers said playing in the NBL helped him standout during NBA draft workouts.

“I’ve worked out with pretty much every player rated between 20-40 and I think I’ve not only held my own but somewhat outperformed them at the same time,” Travers told The West Australian.

“Being around professional basketball for three years is an advantage I have, and I think my IQ is one of my strengths that really showed out.”

Travers was one of three NBL players to be drafted, alongside New Zealand Breakers pair Ousmane Dieng (pick 11, Oklahoma City) and Hugo Besson (pick 58, Milwaukee).
