The Tasmania JackJumpers have secured TJ Starks as an injury replacement for David Johnson.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have bolstered their roster with the signing of Tahjon 'TJ' Starks as an injury replacement player.

Starks, who played at both Texas A&M and Cal State Northridge during his college career, will replace David Johnson, after the latter was ruled out for six weeks due to a calf injury.

Since his distinguished college career, where he was named the 2021 Big West Newcomer of the Year and to the SCE All-Freshman Team (2018) and First-Team All-Big West (2021), the now 27-year-old guard has played professionally in Lithuania, Turkey, Greece, Qatar and Kazakhstan.

“While it’s never ideal to lose a player to injury for any period, TJ brings versatility, depth and an established pedigree. He adds to our guard rotation and gives us another reliable option at both ends of the floor," General Manager Basketball Darren Smith said.

"As Scott has stated, we usually wouldn't look to bring in anyone for an injury like DJ's but when we look at the upcoming schedule, there’s a heavy game load over the coming weeks and we felt it was necessary to bring in an additional guard."

Tasmania takes on the Bullets at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.

The club expects Starks to be available to play, pending medical checks.

That round Round 3 fixture, which will see the JackJumpers chase their third straight road win, tips off at 8pm AEST, broadcast live on ESPN.
