The Tasmania JackJumpers have signed Jacob Richards as a nominated replacement player for injured import David Johnson.

Tasmanian talent Jacob Richards will suit up for the JackJumpers this Saturday, with the club contracting the 24-year-old as a nominated replacement player.

Richards is a familiar face to Tasmanian fans having been a Development Player in the championship-winning NBL24 JackJumpers team and captain of the Hobart Chargers in the NBL1 - averaging 20.91 points, 7.39 rebounds and 3.61 assists this season.

The JackJumpers are currently without David Johnson (calf) and Majok Deng (hamstring) due to injury, while Josh Bannan hurt his thumb against Illawarra.

“Richo has spent some time with us as a training player over the past two seasons, and he continues to improve, show his talent and challenge our roster players,” JackJumpers general manager basketball Darren Smith said.

“We’re thrilled to give him another roster opportunity as we navigate some injuries.

“To have local talent waiting in the wings and be that ‘next man up’ is just a great story and testament to Richo and his relentless grit and grind,” Smith said.

Richards and the JackJumpers travel to Brisbane on Saturday, for a Round 3 clash with the Bullets, tipping off at 8pm AEST - live on ESPN.
